Position Summary: Enhance the emotional, physical, spiritual and intellectual well-being of children, some with physical and cognitive disabilities in a day care or respite environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide personal cares to children at Tylers Home including feeding, toileting, diapering, etc.
Assist with meal preparation and feeding as appropriate to individual childs needs
Monitor the health and safety of each child served
Work with manager to develop and coordinate activity plans and outcome measurements for children
Provide options for socialization & recreational activities for children
Maintain a cooperative relationship with families and guardians of the consumers with whom work
Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with Co-workers, manager, and other community agencies and service providers
Attend site team meetings on an as needed basis
Follow the policies and procedures for Respite & Child Care
Represent Opportunity Inc. in a professional manner at all times.
Support your supervisor and leadership to be successful at all times
Maintain a positive attitude at all times
Adhere to and support the Core Values of the organization while performing essential job duties, functions, and representing Opportunity Inc.
Other duties as assigned by management

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Keep current in field by reading published information and attending authorized seminars & conferences as outlined by manager
Complete SIDS training for infants
Complete PCW classes or equivalent
Complete 15 hours of in-service training each year
Attendance at agency and site staff meetings and training sessions
Other job related duties as may be necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma required
  • One to two years of related experience working in the day care or respite field
  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified
  • Requires skill in writing and speaking clearly and effectively
  • Requires the ability to plan, prioritize, and organize work effectively
  • Be able to make logical decisions; carry out decisions made; and follow-up with feedback when appropriate
  • Requires the ability to work independently and frequently switch tasks
  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license with a good driving record required
  • Must be able to pass an essential function evaluation
  • Must be caring and compassionate, and want to make a difference in the lives of our residents/participants
