Job Description

Summary: The Human Resources Manager is responsible for overseeing the full employee life cycle to ensure alignment between best people practices and business goals. This role guides recruitment, onboarding, training, employee relations, performance management, and compliance across multiple Food & Beverage locations. The Human Resources Manager collaborates closely with restaurant leadership to develop high-performing teams, ensure compliance with federal and state labor laws, and cultivate a positive workplace culture that promotes both employee engagement and operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment for salaried positions, including sourcing, interviewing, selecting, and onboarding.
  • Partner with management to conduct hourly recruitment activities such as job fairs and open to meet staffing needs.
  • Manage the pre-employment process, including background screenings, reference verification, and completion of I-9 documentation.
  • Support managers in conducting orientation and ongoing training programs.
  • Guide managers on employee relations, conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance management.
  • Investigate complaints, conflicts, and disciplinary matters, ensuring proper documentation and resolution.
  • Promote employee engagement through effective communication, recognition, and support programs.
  • Provide coaching to supervisors on performance management and leadership practices.
  • Review staff performance evaluations and oversee merit-based programs to ensure fair recognition, employee development, and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and required forms (I-9, W-4, acknowledgements, etc.).
  • Administer HRIS updates, personnel files, and reporting as needed.
  • Monitor and update HR policies to reflect best practices and legal changes.
  • Support benefits administration and open enrollment processes.
  • Partner with payroll to ensure timely and accurate processing of employee changes.
  • Lead or assist with HR-related projects and company initiatives.

Must Haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including recruitment and employee relations.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and NYS labor laws and HR compliance requirements.
  • Experience with HRIS systems.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to properties in New York for a minimum of 3 days per week.
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification is a plus.
